Registry Removal

  • People convicted of certain sex crimes, kidpapping, or child abuse crimes are required to register with the department of corrections for a period of time: sometimes up to their entire life.

But Utah law provides a method for some people who are on either the sex offender or child abuse registries to petition for early removal when they meet certain qualfications.

  • This is probably only a question that someone who has never been on the registry would ask. But some of the obvious benefits are:

ENDING THE STIGMA OF TRACKED AS A SEX OFFENDER

    IMPROVING WORK AND HOUSING ELIGIBILITY

NO LONGER NEEDING TO CHECK IN PERIODICALLY WITH THE LOCAL AUTHORITIES

  • The eligibility requirements are found in Utah Statute 77-41-112. As you’ll see, the eligibility criteria are complicated. That’s where we come in. If you believe you may be eligible but aren’t sure, feel free to get in touch.

  • Some people are eligible for “automatic removal” when they meet certain criteria. But sometimes that “automatic” removal doesn’t happen.

Other people don’t qualify for automatic removal but are eligible to petition the court for early removal. If you fall into either of these categories, we might be able to help.

  • The costs will vary depending on your specific situation and what court your case is in, but in general we charge somewhere in the range of $3K to $5K.

We can give you a better understanding of the potential costs for your situation if you want to reach out.
